Captions for Instagram Reels

Captions for Reels, in a minute

Most people scroll Reels with the sound off. Give them the words: animated captions that land on every word you say, placed where Instagram’s own buttons won’t cover them, and made on your own device so the video keeps its quality.

word by word 37 styles
Bold Pop caption style: heavy capitals, the spoken word popping in colour
Highlighter caption style: hand lettering on a pastel brush-pen stroke

Clear of Instagram’s buttons

Preview your Reel with Instagram’s own name, caption and buttons drawn over it, so your captions sit where people can read them. YouTube Shorts and TikTok too.

Animated, word by word

Words that pop as you say them, hand lettering that writes itself on, a karaoke fill, a highlighter stroke — thirty-seven looks, all timed to your voice.

No watermark, no upload

Free videos carry no watermark. Your video is captioned inside your browser and never uploaded; only the sound goes off to be turned into words.

Signature styles

Captions that write themselves on

Our hand-lettered Signature styles write each word on as you say it — a highlighter, washi tape, brackets, a ribbon — the look people stop scrolling for, in Hindi as well as English.

  • Give one line in the middle a look of its own, when it needs to hit harder
  • Drag the captions anywhere, resize them, turn them
  • Your own font on a paid plan, kept only in your browser

Before you post

Three things that make Reel captions work

Three to six words at a time

Short groups are read in a glance. Every style already breaks lines this way; you can change it in Customize.

One word in colour

Let the key word stand out and the eye follows the sentence. The app picks one for you; click any word to change it.

Keep the bottom clear

Instagram puts your name, caption and buttons at the bottom and right. Preview as Instagram Reels shows you exactly where.

How it works

A captioned Reel in three steps

  1. 1

    Open your Reel

The 9:16 video straight from your phone or your editor. Pick the language you speak in it.

  2. 2

    Pick a look

Try styles on your own footage, preview it as Instagram will show it, and fix any word with a click.

  3. 3

    Download and post

An MP4 with the captions burned in, 1080p on a paid plan, with your sound copied across untouched.

Questions

How do I add captions to an Instagram Reel?

Open the Reel’s video here, pick the language you speak, choose a style and download the MP4. Then post it on Instagram as usual. The captions are part of the video, so they show for everyone, sound on or off.

Will the captions be hidden by Instagram’s buttons?

Not if you check first. “Preview as Instagram Reels” draws Instagram’s own name, caption and buttons over your video in the editor, so you can see what will be covered and drag the captions clear of it.

Does it reduce my video’s quality?

No more than any edit has to. The video is encoded once, on your own device, at 1080p on a paid plan (720p on the free plan), and the sound is copied across untouched. Instagram then compresses it as it does every upload.

Can I caption Reels in Hindi and Hinglish?

Yes, in English letters or in Devanagari, as well as English, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.

Will it work on my phone?

The editor and the caption files work in any modern browser. Making the MP4 needs the browser to encode video, which Chrome and Edge on a computer do well and Android Chrome manages for short clips. On an iPhone, take the SRT file, or come back to a laptop for the video.

Is it free?

Free is five minutes of transcription a month, at 720p, with thirteen styles and no watermark. Paid plans start at ₹99 a month for an hour of transcription, with every style and 1080p.
